The monastery "Saint Nikola" is situated to the southwest of the village of Arbanassi, Veliko Turnovo District, above a steep rocky wreath on a plateau with the same name, hugged in a valley, not far away from the "Jesus' Birth" church. In 1798 during the Kurdzhali attacks the monastery's church is plundered and partially destroyed. The church has preserved its original outlook only in the western part. The eastern part is completely reconstructed in XIX c. At this renovation the original mural paintings have been covered. The iconostasis with its columns, capitols and icons is among the most interesting works of the wood-carving art. Its polychrome carving is a real masterpiece. There are some very interesting icons in the monastery dating from the first half of XVIII c. such as: "Saint Nikola" with lifestyle scenes, "The fire resurrection of Saint Iliya", "Jesus the Almighty", "The guiding Virgin Mary". The icons and the murals in the monastery have the elements of a group of artists from Tryavna, who have worked in the region. The rest of the buildings in the monastery are from XIX c.
